The HSR-1 was TRULY gorgeous & highly sophisticated vehicle. thanx for this very informative video 'this concept (HSR-1) is very mysterious & there's not much photos of its interior/dashboard on the net
amazing stuff! still magnificently relevant today.
Remember visiting a preservation group in the early 80's. I never understood how low height buses worked. The bus is lower but the gangways inside are the same as a normal height bus. This group had such a bus Potteries NEH 453, the lady let me on and then I saw all the seats upstairs to one side. A clever design, before the advent of the high capacity dingle -deck buses. The RT and RLH were such classic designs.
Why not a Zagato 412 or Beaufighter Beaufort with a normal coupe top like a Brigand Britannia?
Stupid music, can’t hear you
I had an Atlantic back in 1966. It was white with a hard top and two doors. I bought it cheap and it cost me a fortune to run as it broke down every other day. But I loved it for those brief few weeks before I had to sell it for scrap. If only I had the money to save it.....
Macchina molto bella sia di motore che linea 🎉🎉🎉
One of the prettiest cars ever designed and cleverly done, successfully incorporating that "coke bottle" wing line on such a short vehicle. IMO it was only surpassed by its bigger sibling, the Vauxhall Victor FD, a really beautiful car that still looks stunning today! So sad that this pair was never as ubiquitous as the Ford Escort Mk2 and Cortina Mk3 and so few of either remain today.
Makes you want too weep what we have lost. As good as any luxury sports saloon produced anywhere
Bora won over the pantera!? Noice! Don’t get me wrong, I love both, it’s just that it does demonstrate that we can also make good v8s. The Pantera is a jewel too! ❤️🇮🇹
3:53 Loewy didn't design the 'Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawks of 1962-'64. That was an extensive redesign of the '56-'61 Hawk models bu Brooks Stevens, "The Seer Who Made Milwaukee Famous". Loewy assembled the team of Bob Andrews, John Ebstein, and Tom Kellogg to design the 1963 Studebaker Avanti. The Avanti was a true masterpiece, no exaggeration that it was the fastest production car in history up to that time (29 Bonneville speed records, many standing into the twenty-first century), and the most beautiful.
HB was designed by Australian 🇦🇺 , the 4 door was designed by General motors Holden...
Good old cars! Not what you'd call 'sporty' in the conventional sense, but in Banger Racing in the seventies they reigned supreme. I recall hearing of one racer who winched the rear of his P4 up in the air and filled the box sectioned chassis members with liquid concrete!
Okay I have to admit to lusting after one...sadly I got the series 2 version which still was a blast but the series one is just a thing of beauty!!!!
I had a Yellow 1972 Opel Manta Rallye, 1.9L, 4 speed trans.
Why can’t we have beautiful cars like the Manta these days?
Brilliant car they were .
It had major problem - Oil pump that was shit. Not Mk3 S1 but every 1.6 CVH ever made had this shitty oil pump that made the engine on high RPM's to go kaboom mode.
There were 8467 built. 3 black and a handful of datapost cars in red.
I remeber on it's debut ,Bobby Joe drove liverpool to Brighton , in next to no time baby🏁
Bicycles
Good effort but yes a tad confusing.
Gear box with overdrive 3 gears? Our A110 mark II 1965, four gears an O D the 3 and 4 gear. And kick down. And freewheel. Lot of fun
I had two of these the first time round. A late '97 in Mountain Rose which I resprayed red and grey and a two tone blue 1960. Lovely cars - except in my youth they didn't stop very well, the wheels stopped but the car went on sliding, I was a bit heavy on front wings. At 85 I have slowed down a bit now.
I’ve just bought the 1/43 Model Road Replicas ‘London Transport’ model of this van which is certain to be based off the one in your video. I must pay a visit to the museum & see it in person.
The chevette 2.3 HSR was one of the best cars I ever owned, I wish I had never sold it .
This back fires and bang at the end ! 💯👍👏 the real deal was there, way ahead of prestigious brands.
My father had a 1958 Rover 60, which he bought for £99, in the late sixties. I think it was the most comfortable car I ever travelled in.
Back in the day I had a 1956 90 with a 2.6 ltr engine, they were heavy old beasts, I had to push it once and the effort nearly killed me.
Really beautiful cars, especially that 57 with GM's trade mark, (for that year only), 3 piece back window.
The GM appeared profusely in Demolition Man.
Nissan's version of the Pontiac transport but cooler!
did anyone actually buy one of these things, its a bunch of car going in the fly machine and this thing chugs out.
The music sucks balls!
GMA 7 1991
Kennath Anderson car ❤
These cars will definately keep up with modern day traffic.
Loved it, poor man’s Rolls Royce. Bit heavy on petrol.
The Left Hand Drive version was called the 301E
insane car
very nice vid! plz upload more concept cars vids!!
My love
I’m real luxury car back in its day, and I remember many of them being chauffeur driven . But back in the 60s, that was quite a common thing with companies et cetera, always having a driver , now we think of it as a luxury status symbol
Top Trumps and Ace Trumps.
This could have been fascinating but you sound like you've just woken up. Stop mumbling and try and sound a little more enthusiastic.
The back axle is known to be very strong and can handle the power of a big V8. The underbonnet area is big enough to swallow a large engine. These were readily available back in the 80s and I regret not buying one. Upgrade the front brakes and you'll have a seriously quick (thirsty) car.
A beautiful car, and all derivatives the Wolsley and the Austin 3 litre. But the ultimate was the 4 litre Van den Plas Rolls-Royce engine.
Hmm exh valves as side valves 😮
Known as A (one, one 0) not A 1 hundred & ten, the same applies to the A one, 0, five
I wouldn't have said it was a "mid-size" car by UK standards, that would have been the Morris Oxford of the same era. The Westminister was bigger and therefore a large car by Brit standards.
I totally agree.
It was a large family car
Can I remember these being used as police staff cars for senior commanders Cambridge was for less money and many more where made
senior commanders ,,Im sure they smoked havana cigars rather than cigs in those .. well serviced for a second hand car bargain except for all the gromets in the roof were the Police radio aerials use to be...😉
